What Cats Need.
Unlike dogs and humans, cats are obligate carnivores. Their bodies have evolved to require nutrients that are only abundant in animal tissue. They cannot manufacture certain amino acids on their own, and a plant-based diet is not biologically appropriate for them.
High Protein, Animal Origin
Cats need substantially more protein than dogs, and that protein must come primarily from animal sources to supply all essential amino acids in the right ratios. Plants cannot replicate this profile.
Low Thirst Drive
Cats evolved in arid environments and have a notoriously weak thirst response. In the wild, they get most of their hydration from prey. Wet food, with around 78% moisture, mimics this natural intake.
